The Need for Religion Across History

By Editorial Staff

The need for religion is intrinsic inside every human being regardless of their culture or place. It is so similar to the natural need to food, drink or sex. This explains to us the reason behind the spread of various religions across the globe, regardless of their soundness. The Qur’an illustrated that the pure nature of people coincides with the fact of religion. Almighty Allah says,

So set your face upright to the religion, unswervingly upright; the pure Allah’s Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (i.e. worshipping none but Allah) upon which He originated mankind. There is no exchange for the creation of Allah. That is the most upright religion. (Ar-Rum 30:30)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) also stated that people has been created upon the true state of pure belief in God, but it is the aberrant beliefs that have taken them away from His path. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) but his parents convert him to Judaism, Christianity or Magainism…” Then, Abu Hurairah recited the Qur’anic verse: “The pure Allah’s Islamic nature (true faith of Islam) (i.e. worshipping none but Allah) upon which He originated mankind. There is no exchange for the creation of Allah. That is the most upright religion. (Ar-Rum 30:30) (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
