Hajj is the fifth of the fundamental five pillars of Islam. It is offered once in a year as an obligation although it is allowable to to offer it voluntarily more than that. Almighty Allah say,

And Hajj to the House (Kabah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance, provision and residence); and whoever disbelieves [i.e. denies Hajj, then he is a disbeliever of Allah], then Allah stands not in need of any of the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns). (Aal `Imran 3:97)
